Apple Dog Treats

An image of homemade Apple Dog Treats in halloween themed shapes.
Ingredients

1/2 cup cornmeal
1 large or 2 small finely chopped or grated apples
1 beaten egg
1/3 cup coconut oil
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 cup cold water

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Blend flour and cornmeal in large mixing bowl, then incorporate apple, egg, coconut oil, honey, and water until well blended.

Roll out dough to desired thickness. Mine was 1/4 inch thick and uneven in some spots. Cut cookies to desired shape and size — I used a 4 inch dog bone shape cookie cutter, and small cookie presses for Halloween.

Place dog cookies on baking sheet and bake 35-40 minutes.

After baking, turn oven off and leave cookies inside for another 30-45 minutes until crisp. Once crisp, remove dog cookies from oven and let cool.

Transfer to zipper bags or airtight containers and freeze to preserve freshness.
