Dog Walking and Pet Sitting

Are you bonded and insured?

Absolutely! We carry liability insurance and all sitters are bonded through Pet Sitters Associates. Please feel free to contact us if any questions about our insurance policy.

Do you need a key to my home?

It is required that you have a key available for us to access your property. Even if we will be entering by garage door or doors with a lock code. This is to ensure that we have access in the event of a power outage or equipment malfunction. You have the option to use a lock box or to hide the key in a specific location. You must show us where the key is at the time of the meet and greet. Services will not be approved until a key is provided.

What kind of pets do you care for?
We care for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, fennec foxes, chinchillas, ferrets, hedgehogs, birds, snakes, lizards, chickens, goats, fish, and more.

Will you care for my pets without meeting them?

At Four Seasons For Paws, we prioritize the safety and well-being of our Pet Care Specialists and the pets under their care. Meeting with both the pets and their parents allows us to ensure that we have all the necessary information to provide the best possible care for your furry friends.

By meeting with the pets, we can familiarize ourselves with their behavior, temperament, and any specific needs they may have. This helps us tailor our services to meet their individual requirements, ensuring a comfortable and stress-free experience for them.

Additionally, meeting with the pet parents allows us to discuss important details such as feeding schedules, exercise routines, any medical conditions or medications, and emergency contact information. This ensures that we have a comprehensive understanding of the pets’ care requirements and can provide the highest level of care and attention.

Ultimately, the initial meeting allows us to establish a trusting relationship with both the pets and their parents. It gives you the opportunity to ask any questions or address any concerns you may have, ensuring peace of mind while you are away.

In short, we will not provide services without meeting with you and your pets first. Meet and greets need to take place a minimum of three days before services begin.

Do you offer vacation pet sitting for dogs?

We believe in providing care that is as close to your dog’s regular routine as possible. Our services are designed to ensure your dog’s comfort and well-being, which is why we only offer one dog sitting option- an exclusive overnight program. This program is designed for clients who schedule regular visits, at least once a week, for a minimum of a month before the first overnight stay and continuously afterwards. This consistency allows your dog(s) to become familiar with our Pet Care Specialists and routine, ensuring a stress-free experience during their overnight stay.

Our dedicated Overnight Pet Care Specialists will provide your dog(s) with the same level of care they receive at home, staying with them from 9pm to 7am.

In addition to our overnight program, we offer daytime visits between 8am and 6pm. These visits can be tailored to your pet’s needs, with options for 30, 45, and 60-minute walks or visits. A minimum of one visit is required in addition to the overnight service.

Please note, we do not offer visits outside these hours unless they are part of the overnight program.  We will not provide drop in vacation care visits for dogs unless a friend, family member, or neighbor is visiting your dogs for an extended period in the evening.

How many visits per day will you provide for my pets?

We will provide up to three daytime visits for your puppy or dog, up to two daily visits for cats, and one daily visit for other small animals. Additional visits can be requested for special circumstances.

How much advance notice do you need to schedule services?

A good rule of thumb is to request your services as soon as you know you need them!  But if you forget to do that, our preferences are as follows:

For weekly visits, cat and small animal care visits, and dog walks, we prefer to have service requests by Friday before the coming week.

For overnight care, we require a minimum of one month’s notice.

Can a visit be scheduled at a specific time?

We cannot guarantee specific times as weather, traffic, and schedule changes have an effect on arrival times. We require a two hour time frame, but will do our best to arrive as close to the preferred visit time as possible.  Time windows can be reduced to one hour for puppies and medications that need to be administered at specific times.

If I schedule a walk for my dog, do you walk for the entire length of the service?

Walk times begin at the door and end back at the door. We allow for 5 additional minutes to refill water, and put leashes and harnesses on. So if you request a 30 minute walk, we will walk for 30 minutes and use up to 5 minutes for extras. If there are other required tasks that take up more than the 5 minutes, it will cut in to walk time. If the weather is extreme (too hot, too cold, storming, etc.), the walk will be shorter for the safety of your dog and your sitter. Indoor play will be provided so your dog can burn off energy safely.

Will the same Pet Care Specialist visit my pets every time?

We work as a team to ensure your scheduled pet visits are guaranteed!  And to provide you with as much flexibility as possible. We will assign the same Pet Care Specialist as often as possible, but we cannot guarantee the same person every time.
Do you board pets?

We do not offer boarding at this time. All of our services are provided in your home.

Can I give my Pet Care Specialist a tip?

Of course!  Tips are not expected, but they are very much appreciated. 100% of the tips go to your Pet Care Specialist.

We believe that every dog deserves to be trained using methods that prioritize their well-being and build a strong bond between them and their human companions.  Our approach is rooted in teh AVSAB (American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior) position statement on Humane Dog Training, which emphasizes positive reinforcement and the avoidance of aversive techniques.  We use only humane and ethical training methods.  These methods do not include shock collars, prong collars, choke collars, or e-collars.
How long are training sessions?

Training sessions are a minimum of one hour long.  Sessions can run longer and are charged by the hour.

Will you train my dog if I'm not home?
We will provide day training visits if you are not home! We will spend 60 minutes of dedicated training time with your pup. We will focus on all desired behaviors that were discussed during the initial consultation. And we will send you an online journal at the end of the training session so you know exactly how your furry friend is progressing.  But in in order to participate in day training program, you must be present for the initial consultation and one 60 minute session per month.

The 24 hour limit is reached at the beginning of the time window in which your visit is scheduled.
